Following the Fellows- from the implementation of the StandCT.eu 2023 program

One of the main objectives of the European Commission program, called StandICT.eu 2023 is to support the activities of European ICT experts to contribute to the modernization and consolidation of the European standardization system, making it better targeted at the main EU interests, political priorities, fundamental principles, and values, towards timely and smooth environmental, digital, and industrial transformation.

A report that summarizes the first Open Call StandICT.eu 2023 results was published in August’ 2021, The report presents achievements of the scholarship holders of this program, and Dr. Elżbieta Andrukiewicz, the KSO3C Project Manager, is among them.

The report mentions two standardization issues that Dr. Elżbieta Andrukiewicz was responsible for:

  1. Feasibility Study – standards supporting the consistent implementation of European cybersecurity certification programs specified in Regulation EU 2019/881 (Cybersecurity Act).

The purpose of a targeted feasibility study is to gather enough information to present a proposal for a New Work Item (NWI) with an already established title and scope. This NWI proposal is built on the results of the ENISA project, which ended in November 2020 and continued as a pilot to put the proposed methodology into practice in the context of 5G.

  1. ISO / IEC 27005- transition of the project from the CD (Committee Draft) stage to the DIS (Draft International Standard) stage

The new edition of the enormously popular worldwide ISO / IEC 27005 standard is a major update compared to the 2018 version, enriched with annexes extending the main text, containing practical examples of risk assessment activities.

The standard applies to all types and sizes of organizations. The intended recipients of the standard are professionals dealing with or involved in information security or risk management (e.g., ISMS specialists, risk owners and other interested parties).

Information security risk management is one of the most important cybersecurity challenges.
